5 Free Places to Visit in San Diego

San Diego is the perfect destination for a trip with family or friends. I recently had the chance to spend a sunny weekend with my childhood best friend, exploring different areas on the coast. Here are a few places to check out for free next time you Visit San Diego.

La Jolla Beach & Tide Pools

Enjoy a beach day on the pristine shores of La Jolla. This is the perfect place to see wildlife and beautiful tide pool formations.

Pacific Beach

Stroll along the oceanfront and watch the surfers ride waves at Pacific Beach. This part of San Diego attracts a younger crowd so its the perfect place to rollerblade along the beach or brunch by the water.

Pro Tip: You can ask for drinks to go at many Pacific Beach restaurants. We enjoyed sipping on margaritas while we sunbathed on the beach.

Coronado Island

Coronado is best known for its ritzy downtown shopping and the Victorian Hotel del Coronado. In the summer, live music is available in the park every weekend.

Balboa Park

Take some time to walk the trails at Balboa Park and take in Spanish Colonial architecture. The 1,200-acre park is dog friendly! There are also paid attractions within the national landmark, which include museums and cultural exhibits.

Old Town, San Diego

Finish up your trip with a visit to Old Town San Diego and enjoy lunch or dinner at the various Mexican restaurants in the Old Town square.
